Overview:
Dolmens, “Chokkanatha Patti” is one of the largest and most impressive dolmen tombs in India. It consists of three separate dolmens, each with a double-stone chamber, surrounded by a low stone wall. The capstones of the chambers weigh a few tonnes each and have been intricately carved with Tamil script, making them unique among the dolmens in southern India. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The dolmens at Dolmens, “Chokkanatha Patti” are remarkable for the intricacy of their carvings, and for the largeness of their capstones. The largest capstone measures 4 metres wide and 2 metres deep, with the carvings on its surface reading from left to right in old Tamil language.
